I hope you enjoy finding inspiration in prior sessions, guidance, and a few of my favorite things. All this provides a seamless approach to preserving your family’s most cherished seasons.
Summers in Virginia tend to be pretty hot. And while you can always escape the heat by heading out to the beach, sometimes you just want an activity that doesn’t need quite as much prep. This is why one of the area’s amazing local splash pads will be your new best friend! Splash pads in Virginia Beach are the perfect destination for those days when you need to get out of the house but don’t want to fight with your beach chairs, tents, umbrellas, or coolers to have a little fun in the sun. As a Virginia Beach family photographer, I love working with families so they can make enjoy their time together. If you are looking for splash pads in Virginia Beach, here are the ones I always recommend!
6700 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, Virginia 23518
For years, the Norfolk Botanical Garden has been a favorite of families, both local and visiting. The gardens have it all, from verdant plants to shaded paths where you can see blossoms from across the world. The WOW Children’s Garden and Splash Pad are nestled inside, giving your child brand new ways to learn about science and have so much fun. Your child can splash through the earth’s landmarks while jumping over the Spitting Frog Fountains or racing past the Rainbow Fountain. If you live nearby, a membership to NBG is a total must!
3500 Granby Street, Norfolk, Virginia 923504
It’s always a good day to go visit the all the animals at the Virginia Zoo! They have countless species of animals like black bears, lions, rattlesnakes, otters, bald eagles, and rhinos. In addition to the zoo’s playground, they offer fountains near the entrance where your child can cool off during those hot days. The fountains stay on all the way through Labor Day. Even if you don’t plan on stopping by the water on your way in, I would recommend bringing your child’s swimming suit for any zoo visits. You will thank me later!
232 East Main Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23510
If you are looking for a totally free splash pad with no attached attractions, I think you might love the TowneBank Fountain Park. Located in downtown Norfolk, this spot has fountains where your child can cool off during the hot days. As you watch your child, you can sit beneath umbrellas in the bistro seats. Always check the schedule ahead of your visit since the park frequently hosts fun events!
900 Elm Avenue, Portsmouth, Virginia 23704
Portsmouth Splash Park is another free splash pad that gives your child tons of variety! The park has 12 different options of ground nozzles, so your child can splash around however they’d like. This splash pad tends to be a favorite amongst families, so I would plan for a crowd. But believe me, it’s worth it! Your child will spend hours playing while you all get a break from the house.
If you think a splash pad might be part of your fun Summer plans, I think these splash pads in Virginia Beach will be the perfect place! Now, if you are looking for a way to make those family memories last I’m here for you!
